This was a fascinating read business wise as most people have heard of YouTube as it is pretty much the biggest video platform nowadays as it gets billions of victors. Recently there has been controversy of the platform shutting down legitimates channels because of AI mishaps it seems and with that a competing platform called Rumble and its CEO seemingly took the opportunity to try and drive people to their platform.
It was interesting as he said “YouTube grew on the backs of stolen content in 2005. Rumble grew by providing free speech. YouTube doesn’t deserve to be at the top and doesn’t deserve creators business.” I believe that implies how in the early days YouTube became big partly due to people uploading illegal stuff such as full episodes of TV shows. Which makes you wonder, do a lot of companies actually say steal or do unethical things to get to where they are?
It happens a lot such as people stealing content and ideas from others and once they make a name for themselves then they try and do everything in as squeaky-clean way. Kind of reminds me on how I heard Arnold Schwarzenegger took steroids early on where he not tells people not to do it. But if you think about it, that buff look is likely how he was able to get a competitive advantage per se. Is it one of those necessary evils for many?
