This was an interesting thought as I was reading how a company that experienced massive success with a product had been trying very hard to try and duplicate is success with other offerings. Unfortunately, every release after this one big hit seemed to have flopped for the most part. Because their one project is so big they can pretty much continually invest in other ideas without much concern it seems financially. So why in the world would you just not focus on that one project that works right?
Apparently, it was due to things such as wanting to be more appealing to investors because many times people will frown upon one trick pony companies who appeared to have just gotten lucky once. So because of that, they need to try and prove to the world that their success was not a fluke. This comes at a cost of their established product as the company is taking away resources from maintaining the one product that is bringing in millions of dollars.
Kind of an interesting situation to be in considering most people would love to have just that one product that will set them for life huh?
