Usually when you want to find the right talent and for for your organization people would look at places such as schools or organizing career fairs as you would usually find fresh and motivated people who want to grow with an organization. But what was interesting to me recently was how I saw a person who didn’t seem to know much about a particular tech field attempt to become a part of a hobbyist community.
After researching into his background as well I had a hunch that the real reason he joined all this groups was because he was scouting for people who could potentially help him for some of his future projects. These weren’t professionals either but you bet that virtually everyone really knew their stuff. As it turned out the person was indeed trying to recruit people this way.
That’s not too bad of an idea where many times if you try and find people the traditional way they could have simply entered into the field not because they really enjoy it but rather they know it’s a lucrative field to get into. You could argue that the person who is very passionate about it would do a better time while having more long-term viability since they would love what they do. For the average person too if you were looking to actually work professionally too in that manner the reverse can be true where putting out great stuff can attract a talent scout of sot too.
