I was thinking the other day as people often say when it comes to success you should try and surround yourself with like-minded people who will push you to be the best. As well, if you are trying to achieve success then it’s best to spend time with those who have already made it per se. The other way of saying it is that if you hang around too many negative people then they can easily turn your positive into a negative one as well.
So that actually made me think about finance and which type would ultimately influence the other the most. For example, let’s say you had one person who was great with their finances and another that was very poor. So if these two started to associate with each other would you be inclined to say the person that is good with money will help change the other person for the better? Or will it be the reverse where the person that is bad with money will make the financially positive person poorer?
I was trying to think about this based on my own observations. To me it seemed more often than not the people who are bad with finances tend to make the other person poorer. A good example is when these two start hanging around the person with bad habits would often over spend such as constantly buying expensive drinks. Even though the other person normally wouldn’t they would tend to spend anyways to in a sense fit in.
The main time it would work the other way around is if the person who is bad at finances is specifically asking for help to change while following through with whatever is advised. But for a regular type of association it seems like the negative side often overtakes the positive. Makes you wonder if one integral factor to reshaping your finance should also include spending more time with those who have those good habits as well.
