While looking for some deals at the supermarket I walked by this product that actually made me wonder if it was real. It was advertised as ready to eat tuna sashimi which in itself isn’t unusual nowadays here with so many Japanese restaurants. But quickly looking at it the packaging literally looked like the tuna product was literally sitting in an open box. That would definitely fit the ready to eat part.
But I was actually wondering about sanitation as again it looked like it was siting out in the open with who knows what which may have made contact with it. I was actually going to touch it to see if there literally was some kid of cover on it. But funny enough I decided not to just in case it actually was fully open and someone was going to buy it to consume.
In all likelihood it could have been in a transparent vacuum seal of sort. But times like these would be a great example of getting some consumer research insight huh? I’m sure one perspective is people can see how fresh it looks to convince them to buy it. But at the same time its an unusual form of packaging and location that can just leave the shopper confused.
