Doing The Opposite of Expert Advice At Times

It’s normal for all of us to acquire the help of someone who knows more than us about a particular topic since theoretically they should know what they are doing to help people achieve the results that they desire. Recently though I was reading a few stories of stock investments where people have found success by ignoring expert advice because there may be a conflict of interest.

For example, imagine someone wanting to dump their stocks for as much money as possible and so they hype it up to increase its value. Or they tell people not to buy certain stocks because they want to get it while it’s cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is actually common too. But it’s a reminder where many times you still should critically think for yourself as well despite getting expert advice. A common example is with real estate agents that will always want to tell people to buy and sell now so that they can get more commission.

When people have a financial interest in your decision it’s a good idea to ask questions.
