When you run your own business one of the benefits that is always clamored about is how you are your own boss where you can create the schedule and lifestyle you want. This is versus working for a company and having to follow orders in a nine to five manner. But what got my attention was how there was a contractor that got a job from a company which should be something one values as people are willing to pay for your services over others and it keeps you working. However, they were treating it more like they were now the manager of sort and the customer should be privileged that they are doing the work for them.
You would think as a contractor you would learn that when people hire you, you need to treat them as a valuable customer in the same way as if you were working for a company and was assigned to take care of someone. Being your own boss simply means you are now responsible for virtually every aspect of the business and they, the customer, can technically fire you if you do a bad job. I always find it amazing when people who run their own business don’t have a customer service-oriented attitude like that.
You still have to ultimately earn a reputation as that kind of attitude is a one way ticket to bankruptcy I would imagine.
