I was reading an article about some items that people have gotten in trouble with as they attempted to write them off as a business expense where the tax people instead had deemed it as a personal use item. It was kind of surprising to read about items like a business suit as you usually hear so many people saying that they write stuff off like that.
The main argument was that you can use it outside of the workplace as well in many cases and so you can’t really say it is just for your business. Although, it seemed like a big factor for it was because people had say $5000 worth of write-offs in things like the suits which would even make me wonder just how much of that truly is just for work. Unless they are specifically branded a certain way then that is completely different.
