I wasn’t expecting to get anything today at t he supermarket but decided to do my usual walkthrough just in case there was a great deal. Sure enough, when I went to the clearance aisle I saw bags of organic brown sugar for sale for almost 70% off it seems. This was funny as a person just the other day was telling me how they bought some brown sugar and was running out. It doesn’t expire until mid 2024 as well. So why not buy one and give it to the person?
When I gave it to them they were so shocked at the price and how they paid way more for so little in comparison. I asked if the person wanted more and she said why not since it will last a long time. So tomorrow I will make a trip again and buy a few more packs. This is a great example of when it make sense to stock up if it’s something one uses regularly and you aren’t forced to use it fast due to the shelf life.
Usually when people think clearance food they assume it must be going bad in a week as an example. But I find many times it’s just the company finding stock and wanting to unload it to make room for other items. Very similar to clearing out seasonal items. Especially when it comes to the large chain stores versus a smaller market.
