Wrestling is one of those interesting businesses I find that dives so much into topics that you probably see every day except the issues here are often made public. One topic is how it’s normal for one wrestler to in as sense try and put others over meaning they need to make them look good. A company develops stars this way which should theoretically attract more people in being invested in them and then wanting to buy tickets to see them. However, there are often stories how people don’t want to put someone else over as they believe they don’t deserve it or that the opportunity should go to someone else. Therefore, the business owner then promises people certain benefits and promotions if they help to get the guy over and so they go ahead only to find out they had no intent to ever promote them.
This makes me think as it even happens a lot in a traditional company where there are employees t hat are really hard working and should be the next in line for a promotion. However, their superiors end up keeping them at low level ranks while using them to constantly train up the people they do want to promote and the cycle continues. It makes you think, how would you react in that situation assuming you knew full well you were simply being used as talent to help get others promoted?
There’s the scenario where if one doesn’t do it then they have no chance for advancement as it’s a matter of trying to climb the ladder and paying your dues. However, with this scenario that may never come as the business has no incentive to change if things are working for them. I am inclined to say in these cases you need to start looking for opportunities elsewhere if you have the options to do so. Because if people are not valuing your worth then your talent is being wasted I feel as there are usually others who are more than happy to grab you. You could always potentially return too as long as you departed professionally.
