Being Afraid of Providing Industry Partners With Early Information

Imagine having a product launch where you want as much hype as possible which usually means partnering with people who can help get your message out there. For a lot of products this usually means giving people pre-production models to use before a public release so that when it does launch the Internet would be flooded with content about the product hopefully in a positive light.

But what got me thinking is with examples where companies have all these people lined up who are eager to review their offerings. However, the company is so fearful that someone may actually leak out the information ahead of time so they decide to give them the product at the very last minute just before the public unveiling. It almost works out to people being like a member of the general public as they have no time to do any thorough evaluations as a result.

It makes you wonder, is that just a risk you should take in these cases versus giving your partners no time to test your offerings? For example, have a standard NDA clause to protect your company and then simply trust everyone you brought on board. I would think the initial recruitment stage on who to work with would have been a thorough to the point where a business would trust them.

Imagine hiring just general workers for a retail job where you are so paranoid that everyone you hire is going to steal something everyday that you insist no one can ever have a key to the store expect for the actual owner as an example. That wouldn’t work too well for a daily operation huh?
