Recently I was reading comments from people who appeared to have been wronged by large companies to the point where anyone would condemn the business for its bad practices. However, it appeared that people were venting privately among a small group of people as opposed to doing anything official. The claim was that if they said anything then the company is so big with so much influence that they could essentially make sure the person never works again per se.
So with that people assess the risk to the point that they just don’t do anything. That’s kind of sad to think about but it happens all the time I would imagine. I only ever had one experience in terms of bringing up a case of employee abuse and harassment from a top sales performer at a workplace before and not so coincidentally all of a sudden this manager tried to claim people were complaining about me. You can only assume it’s because if that guy gets terminated then the manager loses a money generating source per se.
I can only imagine what it’s like if a person was going against an actual company in this. This probably isn’t a straight forward answer too. Just like with recent topics of discrimination people generally are afraid to say anything and it’s only until it looks “safe” due to a large number of people coming out does one then do it themselves.
I think the only real safe answer is if you are one hundred percent certain the company is in the wrong and are afraid to do anything then just keep good records of everything that happened. That way, it might not happen today or tomorrow, but eventually there will be a time that’s right to expose everything.
