Today I was just looking at some flyers as usual to see if anything interesting would be on sale which I would actually need. There were some common deals for supermarkets where if you spend a certain amount of dollars you would qualify to get some free items. Usually this is some packaged items where they indicate that it’s a $30 value as an example if you were to buy it at a full retail price. That got me thinking as there was another ad for a different store where they did offer you a free item as well but they don’t actually list the price value here. I was thinking even for myself in this case I didn’t value the free item here as much without the price figure.
It’s one of those things that should be very simple to do and can be effective in making sure people will actually value the free gift. Because unless you are familiar with the items in question the concept of monetary value for it is probably foreign to you. Imagine giving someone a hockey card that is worth $10,000 as an example where they just assume it’s something everyone gets from a box of cereal.
I can’t really see much reason why you wouldn’t ever put a dollar amount when giving away free items in this way.
