This was a funny example where sometimes it’s just better to buy something modern day rather than upgrading your old electronics. My parents wanted to use things like YouTube on the TV and so my first thought was to just get one of those cheap streaming sticks like a Roku device where there were on sale for Black Friday week. $30 isn’t too bad considering they primarily want to use it for YouTube. I remember they did have an LCD TV with HDMI and all so it should have been a quick install. While that was the case I was actually surprised as the TV clearly had dead pixels and it could actually only display in 1080p. This stick was meant for 4K.
While passing through the supermarket too, even they were having sales on 40+ inch 4K TVs that actually had built in app capabilities to access things like YouTube. Some of these TV’s were about $250 too. That just makes way more sense in many ways considering their TV was already showing its sign for a potential breakdown. If anything, if you minus the cost of buying this streaming stick it makes even more sense.
This is how I grew up though funny enough where you try and get everything out of what you own until it truly breaks down. But I guess this is an example of if you feel you want to pay for feature upgrades then it may be better to just buy a modern-day item that is on sale.
