Today I went to get a haircut after months as the place I usually got it from opened up. It was interesting seeing the changes and one detail I asked them about was how they were surviving financially during these times. At first I assumed they were getting some of those business aid during these times. However, as it turns out they were just collecting CERB like most average workers.
They apparently did apply for some business aid but it seemed to focus mainly on larger corporations with actually employees. Not friendly for a small business sole proprietor as an example. With that said they were expressing how it was tough since they pretty much have to pay everything from their own pocket in terms of making adjustments to the store physically.
The one thought I was thinking too where it has been said that a ton of people aren’t re-entering the workforce due to the fact that they get paid more to just stay at home collecting CERB. That may change since currently four claims is the max. But I guess as a business owner you have to opt to try and re-open and adapt as fast as possible as opposed to sitting around and collecting CERB. Because as the person told me they never know what safety requirement is next and this and this can go on for a long time.
