Working With Your Competitors

I was a little surprised recently to see how this school that offered courses actually recommended its students to go to a different school if they wished as they felt they were just as good as they were. It’s surprising because you would imagine that every business would be for themselves as it is a dog eat dog world. But in this case they seemed like they had a working relationship with their competitors even though technically it means they are giving up potential work.

Kind of makes you wonder if it is better to just be friends with all your competitors per se. Or is it better to be more ruthless where you want to be the best and if that means other businesses will close down then all the better for you? I think the balance is you don’t usually want to come across as confrontational. There really is no benefit in becoming like enemies of some sort. But I guess like being different countries you should attempt to try and do what’s best for you overall.

Similarly you can still get along and help each other but you should always still strive to be the best choice that people will go with. At the same time other companies need to put their “A” game as well. Friendly competition I guess is another way to look at it.
