Working When You Feel Sick or Rest First

For myself I have actually been fortunate to have a iron man status for decades as I never felt the need to call it a sick day as I suppose my lifestyle balance and choices have been working. But what got me to think was how recently there was a person who had a persistent cough for months that didn’t seem to be going way. He lived life like normal for the most part as It didn’t seem to be impeding his life in any way. Although it is probably very annoying at times.

So, thinking about that as a working professional, would you actually just keep working as time is money since it doesn’t seem that bad or would you actually say take two weeks off in hopes to actually recover from that cough once and for all? I think most of us would just keep going as we tend to treat stuff like this as like a cut on the finger where we place a bandage on it and allow it to slowly recover while still working. But if it was a case where your work is causing that area to repeatedly get damaged to the point it is not recovering, would you then take time off?

I think for a lot of people who work say a regular job and get benefits like sick pay they will more likely do so than the entrepreneur running their own business. I would tend to keep going. Is that good or bad?
