A person was telling today how he tried to use a perfectly legitimate coupon at a store. Essentially, you would get X amount of dollars off for any product that a specific company manufactures. Upon presenting the coupon the store employee was kind of apprehensive in honoring it.
The reason he came up with was that the product he wanted to use the coupon on was too new and so he didn’t think it should be valid. Of course, nothing in the coupon had that stipulation. Afterwards, the employee just grudgingly said that he will accept the coupon and even closed the drawer pretty hard as if he was extremely upset that a coupon was used to buy the item.
I actually see this a lot and it still amazes me. It’s almost like the worker is so uptight that you found a way to save money on an item that they don’t want you to have it as a result. Technically it doesn’t even affect their work at all when you think about it too. Times like these it is why a lot of people are afraid to save money with these types of items as they don’t want to deal with invalid excuses.
That’s usually why too before I intend to use coupons like these I do my research ahead of time to determine a company’s policy in regards to these. Usually just having a print out and asking them to show you where in their policy they can deny you from using coupons like these will get them to process it without too much of an issue. Prevents them from using their personal excuses too.
