Wasting Money On Subscription Based Software Features

I was thinking for next year to use a different video editing software as the monthly fee for Adobe Premiere seems a bit expensive as times go by. It was the original software I used way back when you could buy a standalone software. Instead of just switching when it became subscription based I stuck with it due to familiarity.

The cost definitely adds up as for the years I have been using it I could have bought a standalone software for three times less money. But what got me thinking is if I stop using this software all these addition plugins that I paid money for which specifically works for Premier would be useless. It wouldn’t be that bad if again the software was standalone as I could still use it. But unsubscribing would mean I can’t use them anymore.

Something to think about if you are only in a sense “renting” the software you use for your business. I am sure one could argue that the subscription model can be cheaper if you actually upgrade every year normally. But this was one thing I didn’t think about ahead of time.
