The other day a person was asking me if they could publish their work on one of my platforms where at first I was just curious as to what exactly they would want to publish. When they explained it to me I was actually a little confused on what they just don’t do it themselves as it didn’t seem like I would benefit them too much versus if they just did it themselves. Ultimately they were saying it came down to the fact that they knew I had people who would be interested in the content they want to do so rather than doing it themselves they would instead rather put it in a place that already has a base.
That can be an interesting thought because I know many times when people start out they are so concerned with doing everything themselves while keeping 100% of the profits or attention as well because in the big picture that is what many want as a business. However, while they weren’t doing it for business reasons that actually makes logical sense where it probably is smarter to just work with places that have essentially done the work for you in creating the platform that you need.
A great business example nowadays are online e-commerce sites. It used to be only Amazon that offered third party seller away to sell products on its site. Now even large companies such as Best Buy and Walmart are doing the same. Like there a ton of people starting a business could at first see them as competition where they must setup their own store to get customers to go to them. However, it can actually be way smarter to just utilize their platform to save a ton of money while still making a lot of sales. If you can accomplish the same thing you want for way less time and effort why not?
