It looks like Elon Musk’s talk about a subscription fee to get a blue verified checkmark on Twitter is indeed a real thing as it was announced today that for $7.99 a month you can get a verified while receiving various types of benefits for this subscription. One of them seems to be a feature that would reduce the amount of ads one would see while showing more relevant ones.
I am actually really fascinated to see I f this works from a business end as foe the regular individual I can see them comparing this to other subscription services like a Netflix which would make you wonder why would they subscribe to Twitter? With that said, maybe this is targeting people who are trying to use the platform to amplify their voice. It does say priority ranking for things such as replies as an example.
I have never seen Twitter as an entertainment platform to subscribe to as most people would think a YouTube would be more along the lines of a potential subscription service. Let’s see how this goes.
