We all probably experienced this one time or another where we are expecting a delivery of some kind such as buying on item online. You know the day it is arriving but for whatever reason you missed the shipment. Usually companies will then try again the next day or leave it at the post office for you to pick up. So this was a surprise as a person was telling me how a shipment arrived at her place where she was telling the delivery person it was lucky he came right at that time as she was about to leave the house. The delivery guy responded by saying he would have tried again later in the evening if no one answered.
That actually impressed her a lot where the company essentially instructs their delivery services to try once in the daytime and once in the evening. Most companies wouldn’t do that which helps them to stand apart. Funny enough, I was looking at the delivery company and it was actually the company’s own in-house delivery solution. This is a billion dollar company too where it seems like they were testing it out.
I was just thinking how something like this can go a long way in helping a business differentiate itself from the competitors. Especially for an online business where even though nowadays almost everyone has an online store the shopping service can definitely be a factor on why someone shops at one place and not the other.
