Trying To Avoid Consumable Batteries

financial literacy

I have been using this little device as I have been walking where it requires one of those round batteries. It’s not too expensive overall but it can add up. Now I read about another version of the device which has a rechargeable battery that can be done through USB like most modern day devices. However, the device is about $70. So it made me think do I really want to spend $70 to get the new device or just stick it out with the cheap batteries? At the time I decided to just stick with what I had.

Fast forward now and it feels like I probably almost spent half the amount on batteries that could have went towards just getting the version with the USB chargeable batteries. Would you have just went with that route? I know in the beginning if both options were available I would have went with the built-in battery option. It surprised me though when people go with the consumable battery route as the device itself is often cheaper at first. But eventually those battery replacements can add up.

That’s why whenever I get new stuff I am willing to pay an extra premium for the built in battery option if it is available. You just end up saving more money usually this way.
