I was reading this interesting story how here is this ice skating show called dancing on ice where they decided to try and be innovative by having a drone record the action. This enabled them to get shots that would seem impossible such a going right under and between the legs of the skaters. Sounds great on paper, but as you read the public comments people didn’t seem to like it much citing that it distracted viewers from the performance and gave some people motion sickness.

This type of thing would be praised on racing car events as an example and there was recently a lot of buzz when people used this film style to fly through indoor buildings. But I suppose in a more artistic show it’s not the best setup to showcase the performance. It reminds you that sometimes it’s better to stick to a formula that works for a particular audience.
At the same time, I suppose you have to take risks from time to time to make sure your ideas are truly good or bad for the target market.
