There was a really funny situation I saw today where there was this online community where there is like a virtual universe that people actually spend money on. Example, if you want money in this virtual world you could pay for it using real money. Now the interesting thing was that the developers were giving away free collectibles of some sort that was pretty much set to a free for all. Of course, apparently one person tried to take it all and then sell it themselves for money.
So what was the funny thing? Apparently this game/virtual world of sort is just in a beta testing phase which means people are mainly playing it to report problems such a compatibility and functionality. Afterwards, everyone’s account is going to be wiped for the actual release. Hence, whatever you do or collect during the meantime is completely useless. Yet, you still have people trying to make a profit out of it.
So silly I thought yet at the same time I can’t deny that this happens everywhere. While I guess the really hardcore would argue that you need to have that kind of mentality most of the time, times like this you just have to wonder what people are thinking.
