The Name of A Sale Shouldn’t Matter Much

Today I was asked if I knew of any places that were having crazy laptop sales. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of any but mentioned that back to school sales should be coming up soon and usually there are some good deals for those kinds of items. However, the person told me they aren’t a student and so the sale probably wouldn’t be good for them.

I was actually really surprised at that remark and it made me wonder how many people have a similar mentality. Although, maybe that’s why companies have a hard time in some cases as to how they should name a sales event as there are a lot of people who feel the sale would be better if it is labelled with something they identify with.

If anything, the name of a sale just tells you how hard a company is trying to win a certain demographic. For yourself, you can just view it as a way to categorize what types of items are usually available during certain sales events as oppose to thinking you have to identify with it to be able to take advantage of it. Example, even if you are not like a football fan sales events for that theme usually means electronic items like TV’s. In many ways you could find just as good deals then rather than waiting for say a Cyber Monday sale that sounds way more tech oriented.
