The Business of Fake AI Companionship

With news recently on how companies like Meta are potentially going to develop AI companions of sort to help fill in the void of people who lack say friends, it’s a thought on how it’s probably a business that will take off to some capacity and being the first will help one to succeed. But is it healthy for people to essentially live in a fantasy world of sort?

There have often been cartoons and movies of robot servants that act literally like a human so it’s like having a real say butler that you can talk to as well. In that regards there isn’t really anything wrong with that. But even in present times there are stories of people who marry literally digital characters and treat them as a wife. To me, that is going a bit overboard.

Even if you knew there was a market for it, would you exploit in these instances as an example? I wouldn’t be surprised if people start putting warnings on these things stating they are for say entertainment only. Either way, I suppose it’s a open opportunity for people at this point.
