The Apprentice Season Ten – Episode 4

It looks like in this episode the teams were thrown a viral video task for a popcorn company called Popcorn Indiana. Essentially, they had to create a gorilla marketing stunt video in an effort to promote the company’s popcorn product. The owner of the company would be the judge for the task along with a viral video expert named. The project manager for the men was Clint and for the women it was Mahsa.

The men came up with a concept that revolved around people on the street having a popcorn fight. You would literally see people hitting each other with bags of popcorn in a busy street in New York as it turned in a pillow fight type of routine. There was one odd scenario for the men where while coming up with the idea David was eating a Bagel which apparently caused him to lose half a tooth. As a result, he left the team to take care of his dental problem.

The women’s concept was to have a group of people in an exercising room where while they were performing their routines they would also be eating popcorn. In many ways their skit appeared to be more scripted than the men’s. Tyana was pretty apprehensive about the whole concept as she felt it didn’t stay true to the objective of the task which to create a gorilla marketing stunt video.

When the owner watched both of the videos his general thoughts were that he the felt the women’s video was an interesting concept. However, he felt that it was a bit too casual and contrived. For the men apparently it made him laugh and the video seemed very spontaneous. The main gripe was that people getting hit with bags of popcorn was a little violent. In the end the men were chosen as the winner.

In the boardroom it seemed like everyone was criticizing Tyana for not giving out any ideas towards the task as all she did was mostly complain about the concept and direction. There was also a comment on how it was interesting to see Liza not attacking Mahsa and the conscience was that she was simply afraid of her. In the end, Tyana was fired.

The main interesting part of this episode I thought was the quote how you shouldn’t complain about a problem if you don’t offer a solution for it. Very good mentality to have especially in a self employed type of field too.
