You probably heard and seen it tons of times whenever you go shopping. You make a purchase and afterwards the employee would thank you for it. You make an online purchase and on the message the business thanks you for shopping with them. It’s a simple but effective way to get people to know that you take their business seriously and that they are valued. So it was surprising to me when I saw some business simply ignore this.
For example, there was an online store where in its checkout process once everything was complete there was no thank you message as it was simply your total. It definitely made it seem less personable as if you were say looking at a doctor or lawyer bill. It’s such a simple little note that goes a long way. If you want to go beyond which can encourage repeat business you could offer coupon codes on the receipt like what many people do. But in general just having that simple thank you note should be a basic necessity I think.
Especially nowadays for online shops it’s not like you have to manually type anything where all you do is stick it in your messages to be displayed and it will be done for you.
