As it is the tax deadline here in Canada one thing I was thinking was how for receiving a refund a lot of notices were asking people to arrange for direct deposits as a way to receive things like refunds because apparently cheques will soon be phased out. As of now you can set up a direct deposit or have them mail you a cheque as normal. Just getting rid of the paper option is definitely a way to get people to switch I thought.
It made me think how even for your business if you really want people to migrate to a solution that not only saves you money but is more efficient for your customers then you need to think about taking away the less effective and costly option. A lot of times people will simply stay with the old stuff out of habit. Reminds me of my parents who refused to use e-mail for the longest time but now that they do they use it all the time.
In some funny way which is sometimes true it’s like the saying that people don’t know what they want at times so you have to tell them. I guess in this example at times you just have to force people to use it in a nice way.
