Store Managers Giving Themselves Reward Points

financial literacy

So the other day I went to a different store to buy a single beet because the supermarket I went to regularly didn’t sell just a single one that day for whatever reason. As I went to pay for my product the cashier asked if I had a membership reward card which I didn’t. That’s when I noticed she took this piece of paper that seemed to have a barcode with the word manager on it and scanned it as my order was processed.

I noticed at the end of my receipt it mentioned what my “reward balance” was which means the person essentially got the reward points. It wasn’t much but it kind of made me wonder would you consider this acceptable or in a sense fraud? There are probably thousands of people each day that shop at a place while not having its loyalty and rewards program. In that sense if a manager claimed all those absent rewards for themselves that could add up fast.

In my case the total for one beet wasn’t much but again would you actually care if a person did that to the point you would say something or simply let it be?
