Still Surprised When People Think Walking For Thirty Minutes Is Crazy

financial literacy

This was funny as today I went to a meet a person for a meeting and I decided to just walk there. To me it wasn’t too bad as it was like a thirty minute walk or so. When I arrived the person asked if it was my truck parked at the front and I said no as I walked there. The person was extremely shocked as if I just jumped off a building or something. I then mentioned how it’s a good way to get exercise and you save money in more ways than one.

I mentioned this before where even as a teenager I always walked to work as much as possible which often took like thirty minutes or so. At the time it was purely due to saving money and not having very many options other than taking a bus. To me it made sense to just walk. As an adult I find financially it helps you in many other ways where other adults usually spend a ton of money to make it up through other means. Example, buying a gym membership to make up for all the times you are sitting in the car. Like in my case anyways, it’s almost like I am doing a gym workout at the same time and it’s free.

I am starting to think that learning to deal with life without a car is one of those small details that we overlook where you can develop some extremely good money saving habits. Afterwards, things like a vehicle becomes more like an option as opposed to a dependent necessity. Walk more to save more.
