When it comes to having a lot of money, one way is to actually not spend a lot of money in order to keep your wealth, and that’s actually something that a lot of wealthy people do. Just because they have, for example, millions of dollars in a bank account doesn’t mean they like to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on stuff if other people are only paying, let’s just say, a few dollars for it. But it makes you think, when you are very wealthy, at what point does taking advantage of, let’s just say, deals and offers that are meant for people that are poor become something that is frowned upon?
And the reason why that came up is because there’s been an election coming up here, and one of the stories that’s come out is how the current premier apparently puts his kids in some kind of ten-dollar daycare program, and it’s actually designed to help, for example, struggling single moms. And you could imagine, as the premier, he makes a lot of money in general, and so, of course, people are calling him out for that.
And again, that makes you wonder, if you’re really rich, even if you could technically use something like that, would you do it? Because as is evident here, it gives you a very bad image of how you just don’t care about other people in that regard.
I would think when it comes to some stuff like coupons, that would have no limit. For example, if a store is giving you a bunch of discounts or coupons that you take advantage of, despite the fact that you are, let’s say, a quote millionaire or some of that, then that’s perfectly fine. But if you’re taking advantage of services, like in this regard, that are meant more for people that can’t afford daily essentials, then that’s going overboard.
It’d be no different, in my opinion, than going to some charity or organization that’s giving free food to people who are supposed to be meant for those who can’t afford it. And even if they don’t have any restrictions in terms of who can go there, you should not be getting free food from those sources if you’re already doing very well financially.
It’s just kind of interesting when you see people in a position of power do stuff like this, and I would argue too, if you’re really that rich, then you should try to find ways to help people with it as well, in my opinion.
