One of the best type of deals during a sale is when businesses offer you free credit for simply purchasing a gift card. For example, getting a gift card with a value of $200 where the vendor will give you $30 for free makes sense to jump on it right away if you are going to spend that much in the near future. It’s better than reward points too as usually for those you need to accumulate a certain amount in order to spend it.
But that does make me wonder why some people would actually think twice. Again, with the assumption that they know they will spend more than that on a merchant within the year or so. The only other thing I could think is if one doesn’t have that much funds period at the moment to spend. But if you do have the funds what would be the benefit to not taking advantage of it?
It makes me wonder if the fact that it’s “just a gift card” per se doesn’t help as people can’t envision what they will get with it as of yet.
