Sri Lanka Family Government Spending And Hiring

I was reading all the news recently how people in Sri Lanka there has been in massive protest over government management as the area is pretty much out of money. It would seem that people literally took over all the government buildings by force. From reading some details it was interesting to read how apparently most of the government officials were family members. That made me wonder if people were qualified or if it was simply giving the family money and jobs.

It’s not uncommon story where for even businesses where they end up going bankrupt as they spend so much money just hiring family members because it seems like a good thing to do in regards to keeping money within the family. I suppose that’s where the trouble comes in where if people working at a job don’t really have the experience or genuine interest in the field then it can often up as a scenario where they will show up while not really helping to grow the business or organization.

Granted there are always exceptions such as literally family owned businesses that have been passed off for generations with great success, but I know most people often avoid hiring family members just because they are related for these types of reasons. There is probably a lot of social pressure to do so such as when one develops wealth all of a sudden every family member out of the woods will ask one for money and resources. But I guess that’s something one needs to be disciplined ahead of time where you learn to say no if it isn’t the right fit.

Imagine just losing a generation of wealth and success simply because of decisions like these huh? It will probably be a lot harder to get back to that position. It happens all the time of course.
