I’m sure you have at least seen one example of a company providing people such as the media an all-expense paid trip to try out a new product they are launching as an example in an effort to hopefully get glowing reviews which in-turn should increase consumer confidence and sales. You want them to try and capture the best and so investment wise it can be worth it.
That got me thinking where there were some companies that gave the bare minimum. For example, they invited media to the event but everything from the travel to accommodations had to be paid by themselves. As you can imagine, most people didn’t bother to go other than locals. As well, the reviews they produced were pretty generic as if you were reading press release. It was a great example of not investing enough in your marketing campaigns.
The only thing I could see immediately on why those the cheaper route is because with little expense they could theoretically get more people. But as evident, the quality would be as good to generate hype. You have to be willing to invest in your marketing as there are times you should try and invest in the necessary resources for your marketing campaigns in these ways. Unless you are trying to luck it out with some genius viral moment as an example.
