In some industries I often hear that the direction one should takes in regards to finding success for their products and services is to simply look at which company is successful at what they do and copy that formula. If they use specific types of people as a spokesperson then copy appearance. If they focus in selling specific products that are flying off the shelf then you start selling those as well.
It’s odd as we are always taught to be unique and original. But the reality is there is an aspect for many businesses where it’s simply doing something faster or cheaper than what’s already out there. If that alone increases the bottom line then why spend time innovating is how a lot of people would see it. From a business point of view, if the goal was just to make money then you realistically can’t say that’s a bad idea per se to simply do what works.
One will probably get negative press for being a copycat. But again, if one doesn’t care where it is all about money would that matter?
