Should All Job Loss Data Be Treated Equal During The Pandemic

During these times it’s safe to say with a lot of industries being forced close that means people have lost their jobs not knowing if it will be back when they return. There have been a bunch of statistics released too in an effort to determine which groups of workers have been effected the most. But some statistics seemed to have gotten people extremely angry.

For example, here there seemed to be one report where the hardest hitting demographic were women. For various reasons it was claiming females are getting affected the worst in terms of trying to return to the workforce due to things such as having to stay home and taking care of the children due to the fact that schools are closed. Again, this seemed to make a lot of people angry as they felt there was a hidden agenda of sort.

So it makes you wonder, when it comes to statistics in these types of situations should things like sex and race be left out of the equation? That would mean just focusing on specific industries and professions. The reasoning for this too from what I gather is if financial aid was ever developed then this way people can’t say there is some kind of favoritism on factors such as the color of the person’s skin.
