Self-Appointed Teaching Credentials

One thing that people often use a lot of money on when they are starting out in something is looking for a teacher of sort to help show them the ropes. This could also expand into one’s personal life such as finding a trainer or consultant. Recently I noticed something odd as I saw a person advertising themselves as a teacher of sort and that he was essentially looking for people to teach. This was one of those it’s a small world scenario as I actually knew who it was.

That wasn’t really a good thing either as I know the person got most of their knowledge from mimicking what he sees on TV while refusing to actually put in the effort to get to that level. Kind of like someone watching a wrestling match on TV and then saying they want to be a wrestler. However, they then say taking falls is painful where they then just stay doing things like fake punches and just stick with that.

So imagine like this scenario where the person now claims they are a teacher and have kind of a high standard as to who he will accept as their student. It made me think of the importance of actually checking on things such as a person’s credentials. While granted there are a ton of people who are great at what they do without needing a piece of paper to say so, in many cases like these I feel it’s wise to at least check on it. Especially if you are spending your hard earned money.

Even without a piece of paper basic things like seeing if the person has any kind of notable accomplishments could be just as good too. If they can’t provide anything then you may want to think twice before you invest your time and money.
