With all the news recently of people who are in a position of power taking advantage of others who are looking for an opportunity I couldn’t help but to be more aware of that kind of stuff that happens all the time. Just the other day I saw a scenario where a person was interviewing a bunch of candidates for a position and for whatever reason there was way more females than males. It seemed like it was a 1 to 4 ratio.
Whenever the men stepped in they were quickly asked some questions as the interviewer quickly moved on to the woman. That’s where it was awkward as he would spend quite a bit of time asking the females a ton of personal questions that doesn’t even seem related to the job per se. You could argue it was a way to see how the person’s personality is like but technically all the males should have been approached with the same style.
It definitely looked like it was getting “flirty” too at times but it’s one of those things where people on the inside can’t really say anything about it as their careers could get crushed in a second if they do. So in many ways people just go with it. I had one person tell me before where if you are in that position you should just tolerate it until you are in a position in life to actually do something about it. I am sure a ton of people would go against that correct? What would you realistically do in that position?
