While using the local supermarket app here recently I was playing their spin it to win it event where you simply tap on the wheel to potentially win a random prize ranging from reward points to products. For this, I happened to win a free bag of cookies. Free is always good and so I made my way to the store today to redeem the item. While I didn’t have to pay anything, just seeing how much this item costs normally is kind of mind boggling considering I usually shop frugally.
This 300g bag of chocolate chip cookies apparently retails for $5.50 normally. For $5.50 I could literally buy say a large bag of apples, a lot of fresh chicken drumsticks or even litres of fresh juice. Imagine if I actually purchased this frequently. I would literally be eating away at my savings and this is one of those things where it just adds up if you are one to wonder where all your money went at the end of the week.
I know this can be a strategy for the company to hopefully get people to buy more. But definitely not at that full price for people like myself.
