Today it seemed like my hard drive decided its time was up as it seems like a lot of sectors within it had one bad to the point it was like I deleted my operating system. This is my only real computer that I use for everything, so I did not exactly have a backup. So I spent all day trying to figure out what the issue was and then proceeded to head to the store and purchase a new SSD hard drive.
The fortunate thing was that I am comfortable with computers and building them so at least I wouldn’t be at the mercy of a computer repairman bill. As well, I keep all my files on separate drives which means I only need to replace the operating system drive with the programs. Once I changed the drive and downloaded the files the unfortunate thing was, I am using a lot of old hardware as it still worked. But the software I had to re-download for many of them were not compatible such as Windows itself. So I kept getting those dreaded blue screen of death constantly.
Fortunately, I was able to find a workaround in downgrading the Windows version, but it kind of showed how frantic it can be without a backup. I was planning to get a new computer this year but the lack of availability for components made me want to wait. Talk about dodging a bullet in this case.
