There was a political debate here today due to an upcoming provincial election. There was one topic about the wages of the elected officials in regards to the raises they received compared to regular citizens. One of the political leaders then made a comment on how it is impossible to live on a minimum wage salary.
While it is not something to admire, I was just thinking how materialistic we must be if we truly can’t live on a minimum wage salary if that is all we were able to bring in. I mean, we don’t need the tv, jewelry, expensive foods, etc. If you are talking about saying housing too, if you had to say team up with three other minimum wage works to make rent then that is what you have to do.
In my opinion, you have to be very good at making something with virtually nothing in order to do well. Otherwise even if you made say $100,000 a year you are more than likely going to spend more than you make without having any real skills in being resourceful. I have heard of things like a 100 mile diet before in terms of people only living on local food. Maybe someone should start the minimum wage budget lifestyle just to prove that you can in an effective and admirable way.
