Rio Theatre Turning Into A Sports Bar

What a fascinating story this is. Locally there is a theatre called the RIO Theatre which has been in operation for a long time. But like most businesses, due to all the restrictions of gatherings and shutdowns a lot of service that are deemed as non-essential cannot open. That includes entertainment venues such as a movie theater. During this time the company had tried to get it across to health officials that its businesses should be just as safe to operate with no luck.

So this was the interesting twist. Restaurants are actually still allowed to operate provided they follow guidelines. So tired with all the restrictions the theatre decided to re-open as a sports bar sine they apparently have things like a license to serve alcohol. By the sounds of it they are pretty much booked for their first day of business.

These are strange times in terms of deciding what can and cannot open when certain businesses fundamentally operate in a similar manner. It’s usually the small businesses in the stories I read such as small retail shops having to close but large supermarkets selling those same items can do business as usual. But this is sure an interesting business example of adapting to the situation huh?
