While receiving some shipment at home recently there was one instance where I got a phone call where I knew it was the delivery person. When I answered the phone there was no response. I figured “Oh no, they are just going to drive away.” I actually did get a text message with one of those “sorry we missed you” text. However, shortly after the phone rang again. I answered it and sure enough it was the delivery person. As I buzzed him in he was telling me that he tried phoning once but got no answer. I was saying how it was the same from my end.
But apparently this person delivered stuff to me before and so this made him want to try again and fortunately he did. There are just so many delivery drivers in that situation where they ring once and then quickly leave as they can technically say “I tried”. It makes me think of all the times even from a business point of view how people try making a connection with someone who doesn’t answer and that’s it. Many times it can simply be due to a technical error or bad timing on why you didn’t get an answer.
So it can be wise to just try again quickly instead of just giving up. Getting a flat no is one thing. But saying no for the person who may or may not have got your message may be costing you opportunities that could easily be there to grab. A little persistence can be good.
