I was watching a clip today about a person talking about coupons and how she saves a lot of money by shopping for things that she finds coupons for. She even mentioned that if she purchased a product that was unused since purchasing it and she found a coupon for it later she would return the item to apply the coupon on it.
With that thought, some people were saying that they would never do that for certain items as it would seem too embarrassing. Example, imagine buying a $3 box of cereal and finding a coupon that would give you $2 off. Basically, many people would feel too silly to return the item to save the $2 in that scenario.
I think the only time I wouldn’t return an item to get the discount is if traveling back to the location would cost more money. Example, a price difference of two cents wouldn’t be worth the amount of money it would cost to get to the store if a vehicle was required. Nothing embarrassing I’d say though to return an item to apply a coupon if you can and it is worth it.
