I was noticing a trend with a lot platforms like YouTube that were looking for short form content as it seems like the system was trying to push them more. So out of curiosity, I decided to create a short form video out of some very old wildlife capture to see what would happen. As kind of expected, it seemed to take off. I simply just repackaged it in a way that would be more aligned with people swiping through their phones and just wanting to see something quick. So, I used some captures of like beavers that walked up to me into a smaller clip and that seemed to actually do better than the actual longform video.
To think there are so many existing pieces of work you may have than can be easily revitalized into a different format and for a different audience. It’s very similar to how a skill or trait you have may not be as valuable locally but could be very valued elsewhere around the world. Example, your basic language skills. So never just throw away your old work if it didn’t seem to generate much results.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time as well. If people can sell even old newspaper for hundreds of dollars that should show you everything can have immense value if presented to the right people.
