It’s easy to beat yourself up all the time where when you are in a tight financial situation and you make silly purchases that put you in debt one can often stay in that rut as all you think about is how it’s too late to recover. I think being so quick to always punish yourself with negative reinforcement is counterproductive. You need the balance of also remembering the times that you actually did something good that put you in a better position.
Even as a child when you learned to walk I am pretty sure that you were more focused on how great it was to be able to walk as opposed to not even wanting to do it because you fell. I doubt you just sat there down talking yourself on how you are clumsy and so you should never try again. Instead you probably remembered what an accomplishment that was in taking your first step which made you want to do it again and again until you can fully walk by yourself.
I think that’s important for having good financial literacy as well. Life is about balances and like here you need to remind yourself on the good things as well. It should be an enjoyable process.
