Recently my parents was telling me how they were surprised as their monthly Internet bill just got more expensive by about ten dollars. They weren’t sure why at first but eventually discovered that their two year contract had expired. As a result they have to pay a higher rate. The company didn’t seem to want to offer them anything better. Usually around these times it’s usually better financially to make a switch to a different carrier. Tons of companies often offer new customers great deals.
As I did my research I found one company that offered a faster connection package and was about five dollars cheaper per month in total. The monthly rate was actually more expensive but it is cheaper because new customers were offered about $300 as a sign up bonus. So it works out to be cheaper and they would get way better Internet speeds. Of course I mentioned after the two years expires with this deal they should consider switching again and repeat the cycle since the rate will go up.
The interesting thing was at times they were hesitant simply because of the initial work in having to close the existing account and returning the equipment. I would imagine a lot of people probably do just stick with the more expensive plans because they think switching is too much work. But in these cases with services you can save so much money. It’s usually why many companies offer retention plans too because it costs them so much money just to acquire new customers. But if the company isn’t giving you a deal then switching is often a great option.
