There is a ton of news recently that Jeff Bezos is stepping down as the CEO of Amazon. He is the founder of the company and you can bet he will still play an active role with the business. But one piece of news that was kind of interesting was how apparently in the US they were thinking of increasing the minimum wage to the point where many business say it would hurt them too much.
You often read a lot of stories where people allege that a company like amazon overworks and underpays it employees. Whether that is true or not is beyond me, but you would think if true the company would fight to discourage a minimum wage increase correct? That’s the funny thing as from the news I read they actually encouraged it. Why would they do that huh?
Well, the theory or explanation I was hearing is how they actually have a ton of robots pretty much doing a lot of work to the point where the ultimate goal is to have everything done and automated this way. Since you don’t exactly have to pay robots a wage then this wouldn’t really bother people with such a setup. That’s pretty common of course in terms of when a business would promote a regulation.
It’s just kind of interesting to think about in this case where if true I would imagine the mass majority would have never even thought of the robot aspect to the point where it would seem like it’s one hundred percent in favor of paying people more even if the company makes less.
